Tons of Wives but One Favorite!

Ramses had many wives but he had one favorite. Her name was Nefertari. She was his favorite because he thought she was the most beautiful of them (I think it would be hard to tell because if you have lots of wives and over 100 kids, I don't think that would matter much...). Since she was his favorite, she was buried in the Valley Of The Queens. In one of the temples, there were statues of Nefertari and then statues of Ramses II on both sides of her.

Try to Reach the Goal!

One of Ramses II biggest goals was to be known as the greatest warrior in Egypt for his 96 years he lived. He liked the image of himself defending his kingdom by himself. He achieved this goal when he won the war over the rebels. In honor of this, he built a new city. Another goal he had was to be known as the most famous pharaoh in the world. He probably achieved this goal when he built over 30 monuments.

Most famous monument?

Abu Simbel was Ramses II most famous monument. It is a big temple with four huge statues of Ramses II. It took 20 years and a lot of people to build (and it wasn't even a pyramid...). The huge statues were built to guard the temple. These statues were the second biggest statues. (The Sphinx was the largest)

So Many Monuments but Why??

On the left is what one of Ramses II monuments look like. This is Abu Simbel, one of his most famous monuments ever!?! His reason for building so many monuments was he wanted to be one of the most remembered Egyptian pharaohs all over the world (kinda selfish if you ask me!). To build some of his monuments, he would take down (fully or partially) other pharaohs monuments to build his own over them (now that's SELFISH x 20!!!). All of his monuments were portraits of him (except for the temples, but those were still made in his honor!!).

Ramses II Burial Spot!

Ramses II was buried in the VALLEY OF THE KINGS (I don't know why you would want to be buried there because robbers would just steal all of your stuff?!)!! I don't know if he wanted to be buried there but he kinda had to (if he didn't I don't think the commoners would be very happy!). When they found his coffin... I mean sarcophagus, it looked something like this~>
A coffin and a sarcophagus aren't very different. (I think!?) The only difference is that a sarcophagus is used to hold the coffin!

What were the things you liked about this blog?

Would you build as many monuments as Ramses II, why or why not??

What is an area of strength for this blog?!?!?!?!?

What is an area of improvement for this blog?!?!?!?
